Position:
Assistant Strength and Speed Coach

Dan Schaefer joined the Florida State strength and conditioning
staff in July 2012 as an assistant strength and speed coach. He
is charged with the design and implementation of a strength and
conditioning program for the Seminole track & field, cross country
and women’s tennis teams.


A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where he
earned his degree in Exercise and Sport Science, Schaefer is currently
completing his Master of Science in Sport Sciences at Florida
State.


Schaefer arrived at Florida State in May of 2011 and spent two
months as a student intern before he was elevated to a graduate
assistant with the strength and speed staff. Over the course of
his time at FSU he has created a paperless strength program,
created the “Seminole Way” exercise and testing database, and
designed the FSU Strength YouTube channel. He has also worked
directly with the women’s sand volleyball, and men’s and women’s
swimming teams, in addition to assisting in lifting sessions with
multiple Seminole teams.


He holds certifications with the NSCA and CSCCa in strength and
conditioning, and the ISSN and PN as a nutritionist. Schaefer is
also a USA Weightlifting Sport Performance Coach.
Prior to coming to Florida State, Schaefer served as a Strength
Center Associate for two years at UW-La Crosse, worked as a
certified personal trainer, and chaired the Eagle Strength Club.
