Florida State cornerback Ronald Darby was placed Wednesday among 20 national quarterfinalists for the Lott IMPACT Trophy.
The award, named for Pro Football Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott, is presented annually to a defensive player based on athletic performance as well as personal character.
Darby, a junior from Oxon, Md., has started every game for the No. 2 Seminoles. He has 21 tackles, two pass breakups and a forced fumble to his credit this season.
Darby also had a strong outing in Florida State’s 31-27 win over Notre Dame, posting seven tackles and a pass breakup.
