TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Incoming freshman diver Joshua Davidson will represent the United States at the 2017 Junior Pan American Championships, which will run from Sept. 28- Oct. 1 in Victoria, B.C. The 24-athlete roster was announced by USA Diving on Tuesday.
“Josh is a great addition to our team not just as a diver, but as a person,” FSU head diving coach John Proctor said. “We are very excited to have him at FSU and representing his country up in Canada next month.”
Davidson will compete in both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events for the 16-18 age group.
The Tomball, Texas native earned his spot following his performance at the 2017 USA Diving National Championships in Columbus, Ohio competing in the 16-18 Boys Division. Davidson represented the Woodlands Diving Academy and placed third on 1-meter (565.10) and second on 3-meter (628.05). He also competed in the senior event of 1-meter, finishing sixth with a score of 311.55.
Davidson graduated from Frassatti Catholic High School and was a member of the 2014 FINA Junior World Championship team that competed in Penza, Russia. He was an 2016 Olympic Trial qualifier and has competed at both the junior and senior national levels since 2012.
