TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – Redshirt senior Cristobal Del Solar’s opening-round 65 (-5) highlighted Florida State Men’s Golf’s fifth-place showing through the first two rounds of the SunTrust Gator Invitational on Saturday at Mark Bostick Golf Course.
Del Solar is currently tied for third among all participants through two rounds, finishing even on the day after shooting a 5-over 75 in the second round. But the Chile native’s first-round 65 was a career low, and included six birdies and just one bogey.
Del Solar tied for the best score throughout the day on par 4 holes, shooting 3-under.
FSU shot an 8-over 288 in the first round, then a 10-over 290 in the second round. Its +18 score trails current leader Arkansas (+6) by 12 strokes. Missouri (+11) is in second, followed by Florida (+13) and Jacksonville (+16).
Redshirt junior Harry Ellis is tied for 19th at 5-over, finishing strong with a 1-under 69 in the second round. He recorded four birdies in his final round of the day, including three that occurred on par-4 holes.
Senior Josh Lee is tied for 33rd at 6-over, and redshirt freshman Jonathan Keppler is tied for 53rd at 9-over. Senior Anthony Alex shot 12-over, and Jamie Li is 15-over through the first two rounds.
Alex begins FSU’s final round on Sunday with an 8:45 a.m. tee time. The SunTrust Gator Invitational can be followed via live stats on golfstat.com.
