Devonaire Deas to leave FSU hoops program

TALLAHASSEE, FL — Sophomore guard Devonaire Deas has decided to leave
the Florida State basketball program.

“We mutually agreed that it would be in Devonaire’s best interest to
transfer at the conclusion of the year,” said Florida State head coach
Steve Robinson. “I am disappointed that it did not work out, but we wish
him well and hope everything works out for the best in his future.”

Deas, who was academically ineligible in the fall, played in 21 games and
averaged 2.0 points per game this season. He finished the 1996-97 season
with 2.5 scoring average while also adding 2.1 assists over 31 games.
Kerry Thompson’s back-up at point guard most of the season, Deas will not
travel to Greensboro with the team fo the ACC Tournament.
