Tallahassee, FL – After winning three national titles in the 100 meters, 200m and 4x100m relay at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships, junior Walter Dix was named USA Track and Field’s Athlete of the Week for the second time in three weeks.

Dix, who had won his first national title in the 100 meters in 2005, ran a national leading time of 9.93 this season, just one one-hundredth of a second behind Ato Boldon’s NCAA record of 9.92.

On the national champion 4x100m relay, Dix ran the second leg to help the Seminoles clock-in at 38.60, the fastest time in the country and an improvement on the FSU school record. In the 200m finals, the collegiate record holder who ran 19.69 at the NCAA East Regionals crossed the line in 20.32 to claim his title for the second consecutive year.

Dix was named USA Track & Field’s Athlete of the Week two weeks ago on May 29 after his performance at the regional meet.
