The tournament features two rounds of stroke play followed by five rounds of match play to determine the champion. The field begins with 90 golfers before being cut to 32 players for match play. Stroke play will take place Monday and Tuesday followed by round of 32 and 16 of match play on Wednesday. The quarterfinals, semifinals and 18-hole final will be played Wednesday through Friday.
Doherty (Atlanta, Ga.) earned her way into the Seminoles’ lineup for her first event as a freshman and held her spot throughout the 2016 fall and 2017 spring seasons. Her scoring average in her first collegiate season (74.26) is the third lowest by a freshman in school history. Doherty was a member of the Seminoles’ lineup for all eight events in the spring of 2017 as Florida State won three tournaments (Florida State Match-Up, The Dickson Intercollegiate and the Clemson Invitational) to bring its total to a school-record title six for the year. Individually, she earned five top-15 finishes in eight events during the spring of 2017. Doherty played in her first ACC Championship as a freshman in 2017 and helped lead the Seminoles to a school-record tying second place finish in the team standings.
Doherty begins play in the North & South Amateur at 8:39 Monday morning from tee No. 1. She is playing with Elizabeth Bose and Jessica Spicer of Virginia Tech.
