April 9, 2001

OPELIKA, Ala. –
Florida State senior Mark Donaldson shot a season-low tournament score of 218 and finished in a tie for 17th-place and led the Seminole men’s golf team to a ninth place finish at the Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate at Saugahatchee Country Club as play in the three-round event concluded Sunday. Donaldson shot a three-over par 75 and the Seminoles closed the event with a team score of 300 in the final round. Auburn, the tournament host, won the event with a 13-under par team score of 851.

Donaldson (Kirkaldy, Scotland) came within three stokes of tying his all-time best round of 215 during the 1999 Seminole Classic. He shot a career-low three-under par 69 during Saturday’s second round. Donaldson finished only six stokes behind the tournament’s medallist, Allen Thompson of Georgia State.

After shooting a one-over par 73 in the first round of the tournament, freshman Rusty Mosley (Vidalia, Ga.) finished in 47th-place with a three-round score of 228. It marked the second consecutive tournament that Mosley had carded 228 or better.

Sophomore Andy Lewis (Garland, Texas) shot his best round of the tournament, a two-over par 74, in Sunday’s final round. Lewis finished in a tie for 52nd-place with a three-round score of 230. Senior Kris Hannah (Tallahassee, Fla.) fired a personal tournament best three-over par 75 in Sunday’s final round.

The Seminole men’s golf team will participate in the Atlantic Coast Conference men’s golf championships on April 20-22 in Orlando, Fla.
