1999 NFL Draft – Recap
** Thirty-one ACC players were selected in the 1999 NFL draft, including
four in the first round … the 31 players was the second-highest total in
ACC history and third among conferences in 1999 … each of the nine ACC
schools had at least one player drafted.


** The four first-round selections in 1999 were tied for the third most in
league history … the ACC had an all-time high eight first round
selections in 1997 and seven in 1998 …


** Eight of the first nine, and 13 of the first 15 ACC players drafted
were defensive players … in all, nine ACC defensive lineman and eight
linebackers were selected … over the past three years, a total of 19 ACC
linebackers have been drafted, including 11 in the first three rounds.

First Round Draft Picks

** Over the past three years, the ACC has had more first round draft picks
(19) than any other conference except the SEC (22) … the Big Ten is
third (11) followed by the Big East (10), Big 12 and the Pacific-10 with
nine each … the ACC has had at least one first round selection in 11
straight NFL drafts and in 20 of the last 21.


** Since 1992, when FSU joined the ACC, the Seminoles lead all ACC teams
with 12 first round selections … North Carolina is second with seven,
followed by Clemson and Virginia with four each, Georgia Tech and NC State
two each with Duke, NC State and Maryland one apiece … all-time, Florida
State leads all ACC teams with 21 first round selections, Clemson is
second with 18, followed by North Carolina (14), Maryland (13), NC State
(11), Virginia (10), Georgia Tech (8), and Duke with six.

ACC & the NFL Draft History

** North Carolina leads all ACC schools with 189 selections all-time,
Georgia Tech is second with 181 picks followed by Clemson (174), Maryland
(172), Florida State (164), Duke (149), Virginia (120), NC State (119) and
Wake Forest (110).

** The Chicago/St. Louis/Phoenix Cardinals have drafted more players (97)
from ACC schools than any other NFL franchise…the Washington Redskins
are second with (94), followed by the Chicago Bears (89) and the New York
Giants (85).
