Edwards Two-Time Scholar All-American

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – For the second year in a row, Florida State’s Becky Edwards was named a first team Scholar All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Edwards, who is pursuing a degree in marketing, currently boasts a 3.77 GPA.

Edwards started all 25 games in her final season at Florida State. The senior captain had a breakout year as she ranked third on the team in points (18) recording career-highs in points, goals (5) and shots (46). She tied a career-high with eight assists, a mark she established as a freshman back in 2006.

A native of Downingtown, Pa., Edwards finished her Seminole career tied for third all-time in appearances with 95, while sitting fifth in career starts with 89. She tallied 20 assists over her four year career, tied for sixth all-time at FSU, including eight game-winners.

Edwards is a six-time member of the Dean’s List at Florida State, while earning President’s List honors following the fall 2008 semester for posting a 4.0 GPA. She is a three-time member of both the All-ACC Academic Team and ACC Academic Honor Roll.

With the honor, Edwards becomes the Seminoles’ first two-time, first team Scholar All-American from the NSCAA. The midfielder/defender was also named to the NSCAA Scholar first team in 2008.
