Tallahassee, Fla. – The Florida State No. 1 men’s and No. 16 women’s track and field teams head to the largest track and field meet in the state of Texas, the Texas Relays. The four-day meet starts Wednesday, April 5 and lasts through Saturday, April 8, 2006.
Opening day one of the multi-day meet that features the top high school and college teams across the nation is senior LaKendra McColumn (Lithonia, Ga./Southwest Dekalb) in the 400m hurdles. She tips off at 4:30 pm just ahead of fellow hurdlers redshirt freshman Javier Garcia-Tunon (Miami, Fla./Belen Jesuit) and rookie Tywayne Buchanan (Greater Portmore, Jamaica/Wolmer’s Boys’ School) who are scheduled to start the quarter hurdle race at 5:00 pm. Hammer throw Andrew Diakos (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier) and pole vaulter Matt Hurley (Tallahassee, Fla./Chiles) have starts of 3:30 pm and 4:00 pm, respectively.
