Greensboro, N.C. – For the second consecutive week, Florida State senior Carrie Ellis (Valrico, Fla.) earned Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week (announced on Monday, November 21). Ellis was named co-performer of the week with North Carolina’s Whitney Sprague. Ellis earned the honor for the first time in her career just last week on Monday, November 14.
Ellis led No. 16 Florida State to a team title at the eight-team Georgia Tech Invitational, held November 18-20. The Valrico, Fla., native set a school record in the 100 free prelims with an NCAA A qualifying standard time of 49.32. She followed that up by winning the event with NCAA B cut time of 49.77. The 200 free (1:31.59), 400 medley (3:43.43) and 200 medley (1:40.37) relays all recorded NCAA B cut times in their wins, while Ellis also helped the 800 free relay to a win with the time of 7:28.30. The 200 medley relay team set a school record in the event.
Florida State men’s (No. 15) and women’s (No. 16) swimming and diving teams will be back in action Tuesday, November 22, when they travel to Gainesville, Fla., to take on Florida.
