Jan. 20, 2005

Tallahassee, Fla. –
Tom DeWitt, 45, died on Tuesday in Tallahassee after an accident in his home on Sunday. DeWitt engineered the Seminole game day radio broadcasts for FSU football and basketball for the past 10 years. He also engineered the popular Bobby Bowden, Leonard Hamilton and Steve Robinson call-in shows.

“We are all shocked and saddened by the loss,” said friend and colleague Gene Deckerhoff. “Tom was excellent at his job and, more importantly, was a great human being. It takes a number of people working together to make a radio broadcast and no one in that chain was more important than Tom. We will all miss him very much. The thoughts and prayers of the entire Seminole family go out to his wife Kitty and his family.”

A memorial service was be held on Friday at 11:00 at Christ’s Episcopal Church in Monticello.
