Feb. 10, 2011
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The opening pitch of the 2011 Florida State baseball season is just a week away, but Seminole fans eager to get a glimpse of Mike Martin’s 32nd squad don’t have to wait.
Fan Day is set for Saturday on the plaza at Dick Howser Stadium.
With seven of nine position starters and a deep bullpen returning from last season’s ACC Championship and College World Series qualifying squad (48-20), the Seminoles are already gaining preseason national attention. FSU has pulled a preseason ranking of 13th or better in each of the four major polls.
The day kicks off with the Seminoles fully armed with Sharpie’s and ready to sign autographs from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. An ample supply of schedule cards will also be available. By 2 p.m., the Seminoles will hit the field for a scrimmage.
Best of all, it’s a day of free fun.
The concession stands will be open and be previewing some of the specials which will be available throughout the season.
It’s all part of the build-up to the Feb. 18 season-opener at home against VMI, which is set for a 4 p.m. first pitch. General admission season tickets are still available at Seminoles.com for the 37-game home slate, which will include three-game series against ACC rivals Boston College, Wake Forest, North Carolina, Duke and Clemson, and in-state contests with UCF, Florida Gulf Coast, Florida, Jacksonville and Stetson.
Fans can also purchase tickets for the Feb. 24 exhibition against Philadelphia Phillies at Clearwater’s Bright House Networks Park, as well as the Florida Four Classic showdown with Florida on March 1 at Tampa’s Yankee Stadium.
