TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) – With less than two weeks from the start of opening day, Seminole fans will get a chance to meet the members of the 2012 Florida State baseball team on Sunday, February 12 at Fan Day presented by Whataburger.
Fan day festivities will begin at 11:45 a.m. inside Haggard Plaza with the team autograph session. Players and coaches will greet fans and sign autographs until 1:00 p.m. This year’s team poster and schedule cards will be available for fans to pick-up at that time.
Also during the autograph session, fans will get a chance to see the newly renovated Mike Martin Field. This past summer the field underwent a major face lift in which a new drainage system was put in place in the outfield. New sod was laid in both the infield and outfield, while the foul territory, from the edge of the outfield grass in front of the first base dugout all the way around to the third base dugout, is now lined with turf. Fences were also added in front of both dugouts. The outfield area will be open during the autograph session for fans to get a feel for the new grass.
After the autograph session, fans are encouraged to stick around for a team scrimmage which is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
The Seminoles will open the 2012 season at home with a three-game weekend series against Hofstra beginning Friday, February 17. First pitch on opening day is set for 4:00 p.m.
Fans are encouraged to stay tuned to www.seminoles.com for continued coverage of Seminole Baseball throughout the 2012 season.
