SETTING THE SCENE

Florida State plays host to Morgan State in a non-conference home game at the Leon County Civic Center. The game against the Bears is the Seminoles final non-ACC game before playing host to Duke on Jan. 4. Following Thursday night’s game against the Blue Devils, the Seminoles play host to UNC Asheville in their final non-conference game of the regular season. The Seminoles have won their last two home games and two of their last three games overall entering Saturday’s game. Morgan State is located in Baltimore, Md.

DIXON ON FIRE LAST WEEK

The only Florida State player who might not have been happy to see the holiday break arrive was junior forward Antwuan Dixon. As the Seminoles’ schedule heated up with three games in five days (Dec. 17, 19 and 21) so did Dixon’s game. Dixon recorded back-to-back doubles against Jacksonville (13 points and 11 rebounds) and Cleveland State (10 points and 11 rebounds) and averaged 13.0 points and 9.7 rebounds during his three game hot streak.


A. DIXON ON THE BOARDS

Junior Antwuan Dixon enters Saturday’s game against Morgan State as the Seminoles’ leading rebounder. He has 74 rebounds and a career-high 6.7 rebound per game average through the first 11 games of the season. Dixon is averaging more than four rebounds more per game this season then he did during the first two years (50 games) of his career.

Junior Antwuan Dixon enters Saturday’s game against Morgan State with a career-high field goal shooting percentage of 51.3 percent. He has shot 50 percent or better in six of Florida State’s 11 games this season. Dixon entered the 2000-01 season with a career field goal shooting percentage of 40.8 and is shooting more than 10 percentage points higher than that this season.


CRAWFORD FROM THE 3-POINT ARC

Senior tri-captain Adrian Crawford made three 3-point field goals against Binghamton on Dec. 21 to bring his season total to a team-leading 37. He has now made 98 3-points shots during his 56-game Florida State career. He is looking to become only the ninth player in school history to make 100 or more 3-point shots in his career.


CRAWFORD’S CAREER 3-POINT SHOOTING NUMBERS

Senior tri-captain Adrian Crawford has made 124 career 3-point shots in 90 games for an average of 1.4 per game. He played his first season under head coach Steve Robinson at the University of Tulsa.


JOINER CELEBRATES THE HOLIDAY SEASON AGAINST MORGAN

ACC Freshman-of-the-Year candidate Michael Joiner recorded career-highs in steals (four) and steals (three) against Binghamton on Dec. 21. His three blocked shots against the Bearcats doubled his season total to six, he entered the game with three blocked shots in his first 10 games.


JOINER CONTINUES TO RANK AMONG TEAM LEADERS

ACC Freshman-of-the-Year candidate Michael Joiner enters Saturday’s game against Morgan State ranked among the top two Seminoles in eight different statistical categories. In addition, he is one of two Florida State players to hold a double figure scoring average and has recorded two double-doubles.


ARRINGTON IMPROVING HIS A:TO RATIO

Senior tri-captain Delvon Arrington has improved his assist:turnover ratio to nearly 2:1 in the last three games. He has 19 assists and only 10 turnovers in the last three games.


NIGEL DIXON CONTINUES TO PLAY BIG

Sophomore Nigel Dixon, who started the first eight games of the season, enters Saturday’s game against Morgan State with a bevy of career high statistics.


MATHEWS ENJOYING ROLE AS STARTER

Sophomore Mike Mathews, who has started each of the Seminole’s last three games, has performed well in his starters role. He gained his first career start against Jacksonville on Dec. 17 and has led the Seminoles to a 2-1 record since joining the first team.


MATHEWS LEADS SEMINOLE BLOCKING BRIGADE

Sophomore Mike Mathews has blocked at least one shot in 10 consecutive games. He was held without a block in the Seminoles’ season opener against Florida on Nov. 17 and has blocked at least one shot in every game since Florida State’s game against Ohio State in the first round of the Great Alaska Shootout. Mathews blocked a career-high five shots against both Minnesota (Nov. 29) and Furman (Dec. 4) in consecutive games. He also added four blocks in Florida State’s victory over Binghamton on Dec. 21.


CUMMINGS BECOMING A PRIME-TIME PLAYER

Junior Monte Cummings has scored in double figures in each of the Seminoles’ last three games and is averaging 14.0 points per game during that span. He has performed well and upped his statistics in nearly every category as the Seminoles have won two of their last three games.


CAREER-HIGHS ABOUND FOR CUMMINGS

Junior Monte Cummings grabbed a career-high five rebounds, was credited with a career-high tying four assists against Binghamton on Dec. 21 and enters Saturday’s game against Duke with a career-high 9.3 points per game average.


WILSON CONTINUES TO CONTRIBUTE

Freshman Andrew Wilson, one of three freshmen who have played in all 11 games this season, enters Saturday’s game against Morgan State as the Seminoles’ leader from the free throw line. He is shooting 86.4 percent from the line and has made 12 of his last 13 attempts since the first half of Florida State’s game against South Florida on Dec. 7. Wilson played a career-high 20 minutes against Binghamton on Dec. 21 and has scored eight or more points four times this season.
