TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State’s men’s track and field team earned top weekly honors in the Atlantic Coast Conference for the second-time this outdoor season as the 4x100m relay team was named the ACC Co-Performers of the Week, along with Virginia Tech thrower Marcel Lomnicky.
The foursome, composed of Michael Ray Garvin, Brandon Byram, Maurice Mitchell and Charles Clark, dominated the 82nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays this past weekend by running the nation’s fastest time of the season at 38.75, only 15 one-hundredths of a second shy of a school and league record and were crowned Texas Relays champions in the event. The same talented squad also excelled in the prelims of the relay to produce regional qualifications.
“The win for those guys at Texas Relays was really special and now they’re making history as the first relay team to win ACC Performer of the Week honors,” FSU head coach Bob Braman said. “We look forward to seeing more great things from that group in the future.”
Florida State will be back in action this weekend as it hosts the Seminole Invitational April 10-11 at the Mike Long Track.
