Florida State and Basketball Coach Steve Robinson Reach Mutual Termination Agreement

March 11, 2002

Florida State Director of Athletics Dave Hart announced on Monday that the university and head basketball coach Steve Robinson have agreed on a mutual termination agreement that ends his tenure at FSU after five seasons.

Robinson had a 64-86 record over five years at FSU and a 110-104 career record, including his two years as head coach at Tulsa. The Seminoles were 12-17 this season and finished in a tie for seventh in the ACC. Robinson led FSU to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 1998, his first season with the Seminoles, posting an 18-14 record for the year.

Robinson was an assistant coach at Kansas from 1989-1995 before his two-year stint at Tulsa. He was also an assistant at Radford (1984-86) and Cornell (1987-88).

A national search for his replacement will begin immediately.
