Dec. 16, 2008
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State’s track and field and cross country men’s and women’s teams raised over $900 this year to bring the Christmas spirit to seven children.
Assistant coach Jackie Richards led both teams partnered with the Salvation Army to adopt a family for the 2008 holiday season. This is the fourth consecutive year the Seminoles have adopted a family and brought holiday cheer to children. Florida State provided clothes and toys for seven less fortunate children and will make their Christmas wish-list come true. The number of children needing help this Christmas (1,025) grew 70 percent compared to last year’s 445 children. With Richards’ help and senior women’s track and field captain, Keyla Smith, seven children will wake up on Christmas morning with smiles on their faces.
