November 11, 1998

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The No. 5 Florida State Seminoles practiced for two
hours in shells today as they continued preparation for their meeting with
Wake Forest on Saturday.

“It was a cool day of work which we probably needed,” said head coach
Bobby Bowden. “Tomorrow, we’ll work on the gameplan and getting the right
assignments. We’ll work on the kicking game really good at the start of
practice.”

“Today, everyone seemed to be focused,” commented Bowden. “I got on them
a little, but today they were working hard.”

Quarterback Chris Weinke was admitted to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital
last night and will undergo surgery tomorrow morning.

“I saw Chris this morning,” said Bowden. “(They admitted him last night)
because he could not get comfortable. He looked very cheerful this
morning. It was a good move. He’s having the information tomorrow instead
of Friday. He’s mentally ready for it.”

“We mentioned Chris to them (the team) today several times,” commented
Bowden. “They’re focused on him.”

INJURY REPORT: There were no new injuries at today’s practice.
