ORLANDO, Fla. – The Florida State track and field teams enjoyed another solid day of performances at the Walt Disney World Invitational. The Seminoles hit the field to compete in the javelin throws while some of the women hit the track full speed for the 5,000m run. The Wide World of Sports Complex will continue with the third day of competition Friday, March 20, beginning at 11 a.m.

“We had another solid day of competition for this early part of the outdoor season,” associate head coach Harlis Meaders said. “We kept making improvements throughout the day. The majority of the team will come in tomorrow. I’m looking forward for our athletes to get on the track and compete in the sprints and hurdles events.”

The Seminole women had a busy day as they competed on both the track and the field. Kicking off the day was the women throwers in the javelin. Amber Cornell (Jacksonville, Fla.) led the team in her third place finish with a mark of 110-00/33.53m, while Erin Simmons’ (Argyle, Texas) mark of 108-05/33.06m earned her fourth place. Closing out the day for the Seminoles was the striders who hit the track for the 5,000m run.
