Tallahassee, Fla. – Florida State will play host to its second match of the spring season this Friday, March 23 as the Seminoles welcome the Florida Gators to Tallahassee. The match is slated to begin at 7:00 pm at the Seminole Soccer Complex and will consist of three 30 minute periods. Admission is free to all fans.
The Seminoles are facing their second Southeastern Conference team of the spring as the Garnet and Gold defeated Georgia 3-0 back on February 24. In that game, Florida State’s Sarah Wagenfuhr found the back of the net off a corner kick service in the first 30 minutes of action, while Mami Yamaguchi contributed two more goals to seal the Seminole victory.
“Like all spring competitions, it’s nice to get out and measure yourself against other teams,” said head coach Mark Krikorian. “We have an awful lot of kids that have worked hard during the spring and it’s an opportunity for them to measure themselves and for us as coaches to measure the improvements that they have made. It’s not so much the results that we are looking for on Friday night. The coaching staff will be looking for some individual development in the specific areas that we have been working on in training. If we can get that then we will walk away feeling satisfied. We are looking forward to Florida coming in and giving us some good competition.”
Florida State will wrap up the spring season with its final match on Saturday, April 14 as the Seminoles will travel to face Auburn University.
