TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Fifth-ranked Florida State (1-0-0) returns to the pitch for a pair of matches this weekend as the Seminoles face South Alabama (1-0-0) at home on Friday before heading south to face Stetson (1-1-0) on Sunday afternoon. In the season opener, the Seminoles set the school record for the most goals scored to open a season in a 7-0 victory over Jacksonville.

South Alabama (1-0-0, 0-0-0 Sun Belt) at #5 Florida State (1-0-0, 0-0-0 ACC)

Series Record: FSU leads 4-0-0; Seminoles lead 2-0-0 in Tallahassee, Fla.

* Florida State and South Alabama square-off for just the fifth time in the series and for only the third time in Tallahassee. The Seminoles have won all four previous meetings outscoring the Jaguars 12-2, while maintaining a +5 scoring margin on their home turf.

* This is the first meeting between these two schools since 2000 when Florida State traveled to Mobile and defeated South Alabama 2-0. The last time both schools played in Tallahassee came in 1999, a 5-1 Seminole victory. Both Jaguar goals have come on the Seminoles’ home turf.

* Both schools are coming off shutout victories on opening weekend. The Seminoles defeated Jacksonville 7-0, while South Alabama went on the road and blanked Southern Miss 3-0.

#5 Florida State (1-0-0, 0-0-0 ACC) at Stetson (1-1-0, 0-0-0 A-Sun)

Series Record: FSU leads 5-0-0; Seminoles lead 2-0-0 in DeLand, Fla.

* FSU hits the road for the first time in 2009 when the Seminoles face Stetson in DeLand. The Seminoles have never lost to the Hatters on their home turf in two previous meeting outscoring Stetson 8-0. The two schools last met in DeLand back in 1999.

* Sunday’s match marks the first meeting since 2006 when Florida State defeated Stetson 2-1 in Tallahassee. The goal by the Hatters is the only goal given up by FSU in the series.

* Senior Becky Edwards is the only Seminole on the current roster with prior playing experience against the Hatters. She tallied an assist in 90 minutes of action back in 2006. In that game, Stetson grabbed the early lead but it was quickly erased as FSU answered with a goal 15 seconds later.
