Florida State Falls To Furman 79-74 In Overtime

TALLAHASSEE (AP) – Guilherme DaLuze and Karim Souchu each scored six point
in overtime as Furman upset Florida State 79-74 Monday night after coming from
an 11-point deficit the final four minutes of regulation.

Souchu led the victorious Paladins with 24 points, followed by Anthony
Thomas’ 18 points and DaLuze’s 17 points.

The winning Paladins, who have lost to Belmont and Bethune-Cookman, took a
64-53 lead with 4:26 left on a Kenny Zeigler lay-up.

After that, though, they were outscored 13-2 down the stretch missing a
chance for the victory when DaLuze missed a potential game winner at the
buzzer.

Florida State (1-5) tied the game at 66-66 with 25 seconds left on a steal
and layup by Antwuan Dixon.

“We got back on our heels a little bit,” Furman coach Larry Davis said.
“The game would have been over at that point if we had made our free throws.”

Furman (4-2), which captured its first win over an ACC team since 1988 when
it defeated Wake Forest, made its free throws in the overtime hitting 9-11
tries.

Antwuan Dixon led the Seminoles with 17 points and 12 rebounds, Michael
Joiner finished with 14 and 6-foot-10, 350-pound Nigel Dixon added 12 points.
