Florida State Falls To No. 2 North Carolina

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Florida State soccer team dropped their Atlantic Coast Conference season opener to #2 North Carolina 9-0 tonight. The match was played in Winston-Salem due to conditions after Hurricane Floyd.

Senior goalkeeper Jamie Gurtov led the Seminoles as she tallied a season and ACC high 14 saves off the Tar Heels 34 shots. Marte Vik Edvardsen, Leslie Del Rio and Meredith each had a shot on goal.

FSU falls to 4-3 on the season (0-1 in the ACC) as UNC improves to 5-1 (1-0 in the ACC). The Seminoles will return to action on Sunday in Winston-Salem as they take on the Demon Deacons of Wake Forest at 2pm.
