TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida State volleyball team fell to
ACC leader North Carolina in three games this evening at Tully
Gymnasium. The Tar Heels improved to a perfect 8-0 in conference play
and 16-3 overall with the 15-5, 15-8, 15-8 victory. The Lady Seminoles
fell to 6-13 overall and 0-7 in the league.
FSU fell behind 1-7 early in game one and never recovered. The
Lady Seminoles fought hard for every point they scored and sent the game
to four game-points before the Tar Heels prevailed 15-5. In games two
and three, Florida State jumped ahead, but in both contests, UNC came
back to tie and go on scoring streaks to take commanding leads. Down
3-7 in the final game, Florida State came to within a point at 8-9, but
the Lady Seminoles would not score again.
“North Carolina did a nice job in serving tonight,” FSU Head
Coach Dr. Cecile Reynaud said. “And those who normally pass well or us

Junior Jennifer Werrick led Florida State with nine kills and
nine digs. The Tribe was plagued by 10 service errors. North
Carolina’s Casey Simpson led the way for the Tar Heels with 14 kills on
her way to a .419 hitting performance. UNC outhit FSU .286 to .117.
FSU will host NC State on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Tully Gym.
