TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida State football team held its
final scrimmage this evening at Doak Campbell Stadium. With thirteen
probable starters held out as a precaution, the Seminoles defeated the
BYU scout team by a score of 30-0 in just over a quarter of play.
“We worked the equivalent of about a quarter,” said head coach
Bobby Bowden. “We used ACC officials and mainly wanted to see our
kicking units and do some substituting.”
Quarterback Marcus Outzen ran the number one offense and completed 10-of-13 passes for 156 yards and three touchdowns. Chris
Rix, who quarterbacked the scout team, was one-of-five for 39 yards with
Outzen hit Nick Franklin on an 18-yard touchdown and followed
with a pair of scoring strikes from three yards out to Marvin Minnis.
Alonzo Jackson’s recovery of a fumble in the endzone and a safety
completed the scoring.
Other highlights from the scrimmage included a 28-yard
interception return by Rufus Brown and a 65-yard punt return by Anquan

The team will practice at 9:00 a.m. Saturday for approximately
one hour. Next Saturday’s Pigskin Classic against BYU in Jacksonville
is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. kickoff on ABC.
