Dec. 21, 2002

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 16 Florida State Seminoles (9-4, 7-1 ACC) continued preparations for No. 4 Georgia (11-1, 7-1 SEC) with a Saturday morning practice session that lasted just over an hour. The team went through 12 periods and then finished up with conditioning before being dismissed for the holiday break. FSU’s next practice will be at Tulane after arriving in New Orleans on December 26th.

The team voted on permanent captains before practice. Brett Williams (offense), Alonzo Jackson (defense) and Patrick Newton (special teams) were selected by their teammates as permanent captains.

“The practices have been good,” said head coach Bobby Bowden. “They’ve worked hard everyday and there has been a lot of enthusiasm. They know what’s out there. They seem to be focused and have done everything we’ve asked them to do.”

The Nokia Sugar Bowl will be televised live by ABC on January 1st at 8:30 p.m. EST.
