TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Coming off a successful weekend in Ohio, going 3-0 at the Raider Challenge, the 8-2 Florida State volleyball hits the road again as it begins ACC competition at Miami on Friday, Sept. 19. The Seminoles are 21-17-1 against the Hurricanes and won both matches against their southern foe last season.
“I’m very excited to see how ACC play turns out,” FSU junior and ACC Co-Player of the Week Brianna Barry said. “We’re so much stronger as a team this year and we’ve come together so much that I want to see how we’re going to excel through the ACC season.
“Miami is a tough place to play but I’m excited. This is definitely a year for us to prove how good we can be. With the new coaching staff and the way the girls have developed over preseason I think we’re going to do really well.”
Florida State is 3-3 in matches played in Coral Gables and 4-4 against the Hurricanes since they joined the ACC in July of 2004. This season Miami brings an undefeated 10-0 record to Friday night, with a slight lead over the Noles in team attack percentage (.280), kills (459) and digs (514). FSU is attacking at .277 with 452 kills, 458 digs and tops the Canes with 99.5 total blocks to 81.5 and 416 assists to 405.
The Seminoles will continue their four week road trip following Friday’s match as they head to Wake Forest and Duke next week on Sept. 25 and 26.
