    • The Seminoles travel to East Lansing, Mich., to take on three teams, two for the first time in program history, for the Spartan Invitational. First up will be the Missouri State Bears on Friday night, followed by the Jayhawks of Kansas and the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday.     Summer Weissing enters her senior season ranked No. 3 in school history for digs with 1, 379. After recording 38 in the FSU Invitational, she now needs only 355 to break the Florida State record currently held by Luiza Ramos.

    • Florida State’s 2007 volleyball season will be the most challenging in head coach Todd Kress’ five years at the helm of the program. The non-conference schedule includes matches against top teams like Michigan State, Long Beach State, Florida and Washington. The first ACC match-up is against in-state rival Miami on September 14 on the Lucy McDaniel Court in Tully Gymnasium.

    • Florida State won its own FSU Invitational for the second consecutive year. The Seminoles swept UNC Asheville, 3-0, and fought back against TCU to take the match three games to one. Senior Makini Thompson, junior Mira Djuric and sophomore Brianna Barry were all named to the All-Tournament team. Djuric was also awarded with the tournament MVP honor after recording 38 kills, seven aces and 47 points in seven games.

    • 2007 Schedule Starts For Seminoles With FSU Invitational
    Florida State opened the 2007 campaign at home as it hosts the FSU Invitational, August 24-25. Florida State is 12-3 in the FSU Invitational during head coach Todd Kress’ five seasons. The Seminoles’ first match was Saturday, Aug. 25, against UNC-Asheville which they swept 3-0. Later that day, the Horned Frogs of TCU were taken down three games to one.     • Seminoles Flawless In Home Openers Under Kress
    Florida State moved to 6-0 in home openers under Todd Kress after winning both matches of the FSU Invitational. Since 1980, the Seminoles are 27-4 in home openers and haven’t lost the first match at home since 2001 when they dropped a 3-1 decision to South Florida. Prior to the defeat at the hand of the Bulls, FSU had won eight-straight contests dating back to 1992. The Seminoles open the season on August 25 for the second consecutive season. Prior to last year, the earliest season opener saw the Seminoles beat Florida Atlantic 3-0 on August 29, 2003.
