TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Hard to believe, but the Florida State softball regular season is coming to a close as the Seminoles host conference opponent North Carolina State on Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 27. The Noles enter the weekend with a 33-23 overall record and are currently No. 3 in the ACC with a 9-9 conference record. The Wolfpack are close on their heels with a 29-23 overall and 8-10 fourth-place ACC standing.
Game one of the doubleheader on Saturday begins at 2:00 p.m. and will be a `StrikeOut’ Breast Cancer game with the Garnet and Gold donning pink jerseys in support of breast cancer research. Those jerseys will be auctioned off in-between the games and all fans in attendance are welcome to bid with all proceeds benefitting the local American Cancer Society. Then on Sunday, the five seniors on this year’s team will be honored with a special recognition ceremony to start 20 minutes before first-pitch which is set for noon.
In the all-time series with NC State, FSU trails by one game taking six of 13 meetings and last season the Wolfpack won the series 2-1 and took out the Seminoles in the ACC Championships. Florida State hopes to win its first ACC series since taking out Boston College two games to one the last weekend in March.
Following the final home stretch this weekend, FSU will travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., for a doubleheader with the No. 6 Michigan Wolverines on Wednesday, April 30.
