TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
The Seminoles (1-2, 0-0) host their first home match of the season on Wednesday, September 4th, when the Dolphins of Jacksonville University (1-2, 0-0) visit Tully Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m. Florida State enters the match with a perfect 26-0 record against the Jacksonville. Last season, the Seminoles defeated the Dolphins at Jacksonville by a score of 3-0 (30-17, 30-21, 30-19).
Florida State opened the 2002 season with one win and two losses at the Barker GMC Classic at Illinois State University. In their first match of the tournament, the
Seminoles fell to Illinois State by a score of 3-0 (30-27, 32-30, 30-24). Florida State was defeated by Alabama in the Seminoles’ second match, 3-1 (30-26, 27-30, 30-19, 30-28). After coming up short in the first two matches, the Tribe was able to give new head coach Todd Kress his first win of the season.
To open their 2002 season, the Dolphins hosted the Jacksonville University Invitational. The Dolphins finished the tournament with a record of 1-2. Jacksonville defeated Xavier by a score of 3-2, but fell to Eastern Washington and Eastern Michigan, 3-0.
The Seminoles will take six days off following the match against Jacksonville, before hosting Oregon on Tuesday, September 10th, at 7:00 p.m.
