Florida State Men’s Golf Concludes Play At Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship

PONTE VEDRA, FLA. –
Florida State was led by sophomore golfer Matt Adcock in the individual standings as he finished in a tie for 54th place in the 12th annual Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships at the Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra, Fla. Battling through difficult weather conditions, the Seminoles ended in 15th place out of a total of 15 teams that participated in the tournament.


Augusta State cruised to win the event after leading the scoreboard by 10 strokes at the end of the first two rounds of the championship tournament. The Jaguars’ top golfer was sophomore Emmet Turner as he finished in a tie for 4th place in the individual standings after a third-round score of 68.


Adcock (Apopka, Fla.) finished tournament-play with a team-best 226 total score. His best Performance of the event came in the second round as he tied his career-low score of 73. Senior Peter Mitchell (Miami, Fla.) was impressive in the first round of the championships leading the Tribe with a 72 single round score. His first round score was the lowest carded by a Seminole throughout the entire tournament.


Junior Brad Lusenhop (Gloversville, NY) and freshman Adam Wallace (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) tied for 68th place in the individual standings with final scores of 233 to conclude the final round. Their second round scores of 74 was the best round of the tournament for both golfers. With a total score of 238, Tim Vickers (Alpharetta, Ga.) concluded the tournament tied for 75th place.


The Seminoles will look to improve their performance when they host the annual Seminole Intercollegiate March 10-11 at the Golden Eagle Golf Course in Tallahassee, Fla.
