Florida State Men’s Golf Team Finishes In Seventh Place At Mason Rudloph Championship

FRANKLIN, Tenn. –
Sophomore Rusty Mosley shot a career-low 68 in the final round to help the Florida State men’s golf team finish in seventh place in the team standings at the Mason Rudolph Collegiate Championship at the Legends Club Golf Course. Mosley finished in a tie for 14th place in the individual standings as he established career-bests for individual finish, single round score and tournament score.


The Seminoles finished in seventh place in the team standings to mark their second consecutive top-10 finish of the season. Florida State improved each of its single-round team scores during the course of the three-round event and finished with a 54-hole total of 863.


Vanderbilt captured both the team title and the individual title as the Commodores claimed the most impressive tournament championship in school history with a school-record 29-under-par three-round score of 811. Vanderbilt took the title in the 11-team field by finishing 18 shots ahead of second-place College of Charleston, 27 shots ahead of third-place Alabama and 28 strokes ahead of fourth-place Georgia State.


Mosley (Vidalia, Ga.) led a parade of four Seminoles who all shot within four strokes of par during the third and final round. He finished the event with a one-over par 211 score and averaged 70.33 strokes per round for the tournament. Mosley’s previous low tournament score of 219 came at the 2000 Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions.


Matt Adcock (Apopka, Fla.) also completed the best tournament of he career as he finished in a tie for 21st place with a three-round score of 213. He shot a career-low 69 in the second round. Sophomore Eric Beaty (Germantown, Tenn.) finished in a tie for 42nd place with a 220 tournament score. Tim Vickers (Alpharetta, Ga.) and Gonzalo Ibarraran (Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico) competed as Seminoles for the first time. Vickers finished in a tie for 48th place and Ibarraran completed the tournament in 57th place.


Florida State continues its fall season at the Windon Memorial at the Glen View Country Club in Chicago, Ill., Sept. 30 -Oct. 1.
