Florida State Men’s Golf Team In 10th At Isleworth-UCF Invitational.

WINDERMERE, Fla. –
Florida State University freshman Seath Lauer is tied for 12th in the individual standings and the Seminole men’s golf team is tied for 10th in the team standings after the first round of the third annual Isleworth-UCF Invitational at the Isleworth Country Club. Lauer carded an even par 72 and is within three strokes of the individual leader heading into Monday’s second of three rounds.

Georgia, ranked No. 8 in the latest GolfWeek Magazine poll, leads the team competition by one stroke over South Carolina and by two strokes over Tennessee. Florida State shot a 297-team score in the first round and, is only six strokes behind Georgia. The Seminoles, who are ranked 33rd nationally, are tied with No. 4 Clemson and No. 14 Georgia Tech and are one stroke ahead of No. 17 Texas A&M. The Seminoles also finished the first round three strokes ahead of No. 25 Texas Tech and 10 strokes ahead of No. 20 Wake Forest. Toby Ragland of Florida is the overall team leader after he carded a three-under par score of 69.

Lauer (Huntington, Ind.) led the Seminoles with an even par score of 72 in the first round. His first round score was the best of his young collegiate career after shooting a 73 in the second round of last week’s Notre Dame Gridiron Classic. Lauer has now finished with three of his first four career scores at 75 or better.

Junior Jonas Blixt (Hammaro, Sweden) continued to play well during the fall season and is tied for 19th after shooting a one-over par 73. He will look to move up in the individual standings after earning medalist honors at the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate and a tied for fifth place standing at the Notre Dame Gridiron Classic. Blixt is averaging 73.2 strokes per round in 10 rounds during four tournaments this fall.

Sophomores Nicholas Smith (Ocala, Fla.) and Matt Savage (Louisville, Ky.) are tied for 39th and tied for 55th respectively. Smith carded a 75 and Savage a 77 in the first round. Freshman Cameron Knight (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) carded an 81.

The second round of the event begins at 8:00 a.m. Monday. The Seminoles are paired with Clemson and Georgia State.
