Tallahassee, Fla. –
After defeating Florida last Saturday, Florida State men’s tennis (6-2, 0-0 ACC) head in to this weekend’s Atlantic Coast Conference season opener against No. 26 Miami (4-4, 0-0 ACC) ranked number ten in the nation on the ITA/FILA Poll. No. 10 is the highest ranking Florida State men’s tennis have earned in program history to date. The previous highest ranking of No. 11 was earned in the 2006 ITA/FILA Preseason Poll after the Seminoles ended the 2005 dual season in the NCAA Championship Elite Eight.

“I’m pleased with the win over Florida now that we’ve moved into the top ten and this ranking shows we’ve made great strides in improving the program in the last ten years,” head coach Dwayne Hultquist said. “We won’t take for granted we have a big match this weekend against Miami. We know they’re a great team.”

Freshman, Jean-Yves Aubone (Miami, Fla.) also earned a No. 76 singles ranking on the ITA/FILA Poll. Aubone holds a dual match singles record of 3-2 with a ranked win earlier in the season over Notre Dame’s No. 30 Sheeva Parbhu on February 2.

The Seminoles and Hurricanes last met on January 30, 2006 in Coral Gables, Fla. where the No. 39 Hurricanes defeated No. 11 Florida State 7-0. Match play will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 24 and held at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center. Live Stats can be found on www.seminoles.com and highlights of the match will be available next week on ACC Select.
