TALLAHASSEE, Fla –
The Florida State men’s tennis team will begin a four game road stint, as they travel to the state of North Carolina to take on Wake Forest and North Carolina State. The Seminoles will open ACC play against the Demon Decons Saturday, March 8th, at 1pm. Following the match at Wake Forest, Florida State will travel to Raleigh, N.C. to take on NC State, Sunday, March 9th, at 1pm.
The Seminoles, ranked 44th in the nation, take a record of 6-5 into Wiston-Salem for their first conference match. The Tribe has won four of its past five matches, including victories over three ranked teams. Mat Cloer leads the Seminoles into the match with a singles record of 19-7. Alex Herrara and Romain Jurd , ranked 27th in the nation have earned a record of 20-7 in doubles action this season.
Wake Forest is coming off a two-match win streak and enters the match against the Seminoles with a record of 6-2 and a national ranking of 25th. The Demon Decons are led by David Loewenthal, ranked 66th in the country and Mike Murray who is ranked 124th. The Seminoles lead the all-time series against the Demon Decons 14-6 and have won eight out of the last 11 matches. Last season Wake Forest defeated the Seminoles 6-1.
The Wolfpack have a record of 2-8, with six of those loses coming to ranked teams. They will play at Furman University and at Charlotte before hosting the Seminoles Sunday, March 9th. Florida State leads NC State in the all-time series with a record of 11-2. The Seminoles have won 11 consecutive matches against the Wolfpack. In their last meeting Florida State defeated NC State 7-0.
The Seminoles will return to action March 11-13 when they travel to the west coast to take on San Diego State and San Diego.
