Florida State Men’s Tennis Prepares For No. 22 Pepperdine

Feb. 22, 2008

Tallahassee, Fla.- Fresh off a week off, the No.16 Florida State Seminoles will take on No. 22 Pepperdine on Saturday, February 23 at 1:00 p.m. at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.

“Pepperdine is a great team, they won the National Title two years ago,” FSU head coach Dwayne Hultquist said. “They really compete hard, and it should be a great match on Saturday.

After losing only one match at home in 2007, the Seminoles (6-1) have started the year 4-0 in Tallahassee. FSU looks to keep those winning ways going against the Wave (1-4).

“We’re looking forward to playing at home and we have a great home schedule this year,” Hultquist said. “We have been very successful and home and we want to keep it that way. Hopefully we can have a good crowd out there cheering us on Saturday afternoon.”

In the new FILA/ITA rankings that came out on Wednesday, February 20 FSU sophomore Jean-Yves Aubone (Miami, Fla.) entered the rankings at the No. 35 position. Aubone has netted a 3-1 record against opponents ranked in the top 60 this season. In doubles, Aubone was joined by freshman Clint Bowles (Tampa, Fla.) as the No 26 ranked team in the country.
