TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  Florida State men’s tennis will once again host the Seminole Invitational at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center from Saturday, November 1, through Monday, November 3.  The tournament will include players from several of the best teams in the ACC and SEC.

“I think anytime you have players from Florida, Miami, Auburn and Alabama you’ve got a great field,” FSU head coach Dwayne Hultquist said.  “It will be great competition and we are really looking for someone to emerge and make a run in singles and doubles.”

Nine Seminoles will compete in the tournament led by No. 2-seeded sophomore Clint Bowles.  Senior Maciek Sykut will also be seeded in the 32 player “A” draw at No. 4.  Seniors Drew Bailey and Chris Cloer will also compete in the “A” draw for the Garnet and Gold.  In the “B” draw, senior Ryan Boyajian, juniors Keith Embree and Michael O’Shea, redshirt sophomore Bobby Deye and freshman Chris Reiman will play for Florida State.

“I think this is a good opportunity for us to evaluate the guys who haven’t played as much this fall,” Hultquist said.  “We will see if someone can make a run and string some matches together so I’m looking forward to seeing how those guys compete.”

At the 2007 Seminole Invitational Jean-Yves Aubone and Bowles teamed together to win the doubles championship which proved to be a springboard for their dual-match season where they broke the school record for doubles wins in a single season (28).  A win in either singles or doubles for one of the nine Seminoles competing could do the same thing this year.

“I hope that [Clint, Chris or Maciek] can make a run,” Hultquist said.  “I think winning titles helps build confidence in your ability to come through in the clutch and I think it helped Jean-Yves and Clint last year tremendously winning the tournament.”

Singles and doubles play begins on Saturday morning, for updated draws and recaps log onto www.seminoles.com.
