TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
The Florida State men’s tennis team, currently ranked 42nd in he nation, will host the SMU Mustangs Wednesday, February 19th. The Mustangs, led by 61st-ranked Johan Brunstorm, enter the match with a national ranking of 38. The match is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. and will be held at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center on the campus of Florida State University.
The Seminoles and the Mustangs have met only once in school history. The match was in 1992, when the Tribe defeated the Mustangs 7-2, to take a series lead of 1-0.
The Seminoles enter the match with a record of 4-3 and a ranking of 42nd nationally. Junior Alex Herrera is ranked 114th in singles. Romain Jurd compliments Herrera in doubles action as they are ranked 38th in the country.
The Mustangs are led by Junior Johan Brunstorm who is currently ranked 61st in singles competition. SMU will present a challenge to the Seminoles, as they enter the match with their top 25 doubles duo of Gwinyai Chingoka and Eric Cohn.
Florida State will host the Miami Hurricanes in Tallahassee on February 22nd. The match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Scott Speicher Tennis
