TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
The Florida State men’s tennis team will host the University of Virginia in Tallahassee Saturday, March 29th at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center. The match is set to start at 1:00pm. Florida State comes into the match ranked 41st in the nation, while Virginia enters the match 21st in the nation and is coming off six straight wins.
The Seminoles enter the match against the Cavaliers, leading the all-time series 12-6. In their last meeting, which was in Blacksburg, Va., in 2002, Florida State won 5-2.
Florida State enters the match with a 10-8 record and ranked 41st in the country. They are coming into the match following a win over the University of Maryland. The Seminoles are led by Mat Cloer who is currently ranked 70th in the country and Ramain Jurd, who is ranked 104th. Florida State is led in doubles by Rodrigo Laub and Mat Cloer, who are ranked 35th and Romain Jurd and Alex Herrera who are ranked 44th in the nation.
The Cavaliers come into Tallahassee with a 16-2 overall record. They are ranked 21st in the nation, despite not having any ranked players. They enter the match on a six-game winning streak. They are led in doubles by Michael Duquette and Doug Stewart who are currently ranked 40th in the nation.
The Seminoles will go on the road next week, traveling to North Carolina to take on University of North Carolina on April 4th and then Duke on April 6th.
