Florida State Picked First In ACC Preseason Coaches Poll

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Atlantic Coast Conference’s nine head
baseball coaches selected Florida State as the top pick to win the
conference championship in 2000. The Seminoles return seven starters (5
position, 2 pitchers) from last year’s team that played in the College
World Series Championship game and finished second in the final Baseball
Weekly, Baseball America, and Collegiate Baseball polls. Florida State
totaled 79 points, including seven of the nine first place votes, with
Georgia Tech and Clemson checking in second and third. The Tribe set a
conference record in 1999 with a 22-2 mark during ACC regular season

The Seminoles will open the 2000 season at Dick Howser Stadium
on Friday, January 28 with a three game series against Western Kentucky.
The Friday and Saturday games will start at 3:30 p.m. with the Sunday
game scheduled for 1:00 p.m. FSU then travels to Arizona State before
hosting No. 1 Stanford for a three game set on the weekend of February
