Florida State Practice Report for September 14

Sept. 14, 2001

The No. 5 Florida State Seminoles (2-0, 1-0 ACC) continued to prepare for next Saturday’s game at North Carolina (0-3, 0-1 ACC) with an 18-period practice in full pads today. The practice began with work on fundamentals and continued with work against the North Carolina scout teams.

“It was a pretty good day for us,” said head coach Bobby Bowden. “The weather was nice and worked out well for us today. The kids focus wasn’t bad for the situation. I think with the situation and the atmosphere it was a lot better than it could have been. I thought we made some progress and got some things done this week.”

Highlighting the practice were 11-on-11 drills where Chris Rix hit Javon Walker on a deep pass play and Adrian McPherson connected with Craphonso Thorpe for a deep pass as well. Xavier Beitia was perfect on field goal and extra point attempts.

The game at North Carolina was originally scheduled for 3:30p.m. September 22 but has been moved to a 12:00p.m. kickoff. ABC will televise the contest.

The Seminoles will be off over the weekend and return to practice on Monday evening.
