Florida State Releases 1999 Schedule

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State women’s soccer team will play nine home games and 10 games on the road in the 1999 season. FSU will open the season at Florida on August 27th at 7:00pm and will open their home season that Sunday, August 29th against Miami at 2:00pm.

“We have a tough schedule in front of us but we’re ready to get going,” Head Coach Patrick Baker said. “Opening the season with the defending national champions (Florida) will give us the opportunity to see what we are up against as well as finding out what we will need to do this season to take the team to the next level.”

The Lady Seminoles will take on six teams who were ranked in the Top 25 nationally last year and nine teams who finished in the top 10 in their region. FSU will begin with the defending champions and top ranked Florida on the road before hosting Miami in the home opener. FSU will host Mercer and then take on South Florida who finished 8th in the southeast region. FSU will then take on three ranked opponents on the road: North Carolina who finished the season 2nd (1st in the southeast region), followed by #24 Wake Forest (4th in the southeast region) and #11 Clemson (3rd in the southeast region). The team will return to Tallahassee to take on #16 Georgia (6th in the southeast region) and host South Alabama before heading to Jacksonville. Wright State will visit FSU before the Lady Seminoles head to #20 Virginia and Texas A&M, who finished the season tied for 4th in the central region. FSU will round out the season hosting N.C. State and Duke, traveling to Auburn and then finishing the season at home with Maryland.

Florida State finished the 1998 season 7-11-3, 1-6-1 in the ACC.
