TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
The Florida State Department of Athletics has released its football schedule for the 2001 season and for the second-straight year, the Seminoles will open on the road. FSU will travel to ACC-foe Duke on September 1. The game will mark the fourth time that FSU, since joining the ACC in 1992, will face Duke in the season-opener.
FSU’s nonconference slate includes meetings with Alabama-Birmingham and Miami at Doak Campbell Stadium and as always, a contest with the Florida Gators. The annual game with UF will be played in Gainesville and will conclude FSU’s regular season. The UAB game will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools. Birmingham, Ala., is the hometown of FSU Head Coach Bobby Bowden.
The Seminoles’ open date falls in the first week of October, one week prior to the Miami game.
Game times will be released at a later date.
