TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) – Tim Pickett topped a balanced Florida State scoring
attack with 15 points and the Seminoles used two big runs to ease past
Fairleigh Dickinson 83-46 on Saturday.
Von Wafer had 13 points and Adam Waleskowski added 11 for Florida State,
which moved to 7-0 for only the third time in school history. The Seminoles
also started with seven straight wins in the 1977-78 and 1988-89 seasons.
Chad Timberlake and Brandon Edwards each scored 12 points for Fairleigh
Dickinson (2-3), which shot just 29.5 percent for the game, committed 20
turnovers and missed 26 of 32 shots from the field in one stretch.
Led by Wafer, who scored seven straight Florida State points in the first
half, and Waleskowski, the Seminoles held a 47-12 edge in bench scoring.
Florida State led 22-18 midway through the first half, but closed the half
on a 21-5 run, capped by a Pickett 3-pointer at the buzzer.
An 18-3 run, starting early in the second half, allowed the Seminoles to
open a 66-33 lead with 7:09 remaining. No Florida State starter played more
than 22 minutes.
