TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
The Florida State University soccer program landed the 13th-best recruiting class in the nation according to the Soccer Buzz rankings released Friday, July 28. The Seminoles also had the best recruiting class in the state of Florida and the third-best class in the Southeast region. The Seminoles’ freshman class of 2000, the first of head coach Patrick Baker’s tenure, is the most highly rated recruiting class in the history of the Florida State program.
“We are very excited about this group and feel like this is a class that will help us to build for the future,” said Baker. ” It is nice to see Soccer Buzz, one of the main outlets covering women’s college soccer, rank us No. 1 in Florida, No. 3 in the Southeast and No. 13 overall.”
The Seminoles ranked just behind North Carolina and Clemson in recruiting according to Soccer Buzz. “It says a lot about our program to be grouped with North Carolina and Clemson. If we can keep up with them in recruiting, maybe we can start to get similar results on the field,” said Baker.
FSU opens their season August 25, 2000 against the Florida Gators at the Seminole Soccer Complex.
