FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TALLAHASSEE, FL — The Florida State softball team defeated Auburn University in both games of a doubleheader, 5-1, 8-3, to improve to 46-15 on the season.
In game one, FSU jumped off to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first and never relinquished control. Dana Bailey and Christy Cerecedes provided the offensive spark both going 2 for 3. Bailey had two stolen bases and scored two runs. Cerecedes contributed a run, RBI and stolen base. Corrie Williams pitched a complete game giving up only one run on five hits for the win.
In game two, Williams starred with the bat going two for two from the plate with a home run, four RBIs and a run scored. Florida State again jumped out to an early lead scoring three runs in both the first and third innings. Stacy Venable pitched the complete game giving up three earned runs to improve her record to 14-6 on the season.
Florida State next game will be a double header against ACC foe Virginia on April 18th at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. The team will then travel to College Park to face Maryland on the 19th at noon and 2:00 p.m.
