Tallahassee, Fla. – Following a split doubleheader with Troy on Wednesday night, the Florida State softball team travels to its first away tournament of the season at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Ga. The Seminoles will face-off with Massachusetts, Hofstra, Texas A&M, Tennessee and Iowa over the weekend. The first game starts at 11:00 a.m. on Friday against the UMass Minutewomen.

The Seminoles, now 9-7 overall, lead the all-time series with three of the five teams they will face over the three-day tournament. Florida State most recently matched-up with Tennessee in 2006, falling 1-0 to the Lady Vols in the first meeting between the teams. It has been the longest length of time since FSU played Hofstra, going as far back as 1999 when the Seminoles took down the Pride 6-5.

The 13th Annual NFCA Leadoff Classic in 2008 marks the fifth consecutive trip to the tournament for Florida State. The Seminoles’ best finish came in the 2004 season when they went 5-1, losing to LSU in the championship game.

The first game of each day will be available on free internet radio and all games will be available on Game Tracker. Visit www.seminoles.com for updates and scores throughout the weekend.
