TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State Softball team (32-20, 11-6 ACC) looks to recover from a two game skid as they face No. 16 Florida (36-19, 15-12 SEC) at the Florida Softball Stadium on Tuesday in a doubleheader beginning at 1:30 p.m. Internet radio will be provided.
The Seminoles hit the road this week and close out the regular season with doubleheaders at Florida, BYU (Friday), and Utah (Saturday). On Sunday, the Tribe dropped two games to Troy (5-3, 3-1) while the Gators were swept in three games against LSU.
Florida State is led by junior left fielder Natasha Jacob, who is the only Seminole batting above .300 on the season. She has a .338 mark and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. Junior BillieAnne Gay continues to show signs of a power hitter and she has really come on as of late. Against the Trojans, Gay recorded her first collegiate home run and also tallied a double. Sophomore LaShaun Davis has the second-best batting average on the team (.279), while freshman Melissa Wood is slugging a team-best .441 percent and has a team-high 23 RBIs, respectively.
In the circle, senior Casey Hunter and freshman Tiffany McDonald will share time on the rubber for FSU. Hunter is 18-13 on the season with a 1.47 ERA, while McDonald is 14-6 overall with a 1.43 ERA. Hunter holds opponents to a .190 mark and she has recorded 281 strikeouts this season.
The Seminoles can expect the Gators to come out on fire, as Florida has lost seven straight games. Lindsey Cameron is batting a team-best .396 and Kristen Butler is at the .320 mark, respectively. Mandy Schuerman and Stacey Stevens split time in the circle and Schuerman paces the staff with a 1.87 ERA and 10-6 record. Stevens is 21-11 and has a 2.23 ERA.
The Florida State baseball team will also be in Gainesville on Tuesday evening as they battle the Gators at 6:30 p.m.
